An entourage from Denmark including journalists, procurement managers and trade professionals recently headed to DO Navarra on a reverse trade mission
They spent several days traveling the region, where they visited wineries, including Bodegas Escudero, Bodegas Quaderna Vía, Bodegas Piedemonte, Bodegas Marco Real, Bodegas La Casa de Lúculo, Bodegas Máximo Abete, Bodega de Sarría, Bodegas Príncipe de Viana, and Bodegas Pago de Larráinzar, among others.
Broadly speaking, the visitors from Denmark received Navarran wines very positively and appreciated their quality, fruitiness and freshness. They learned about how traditional rosés are made in the region, and particularly liked the white wines they sampled.
This visit was organized in view of a recent report from ICEX forecasting notable growth in wine exports from DO Navarra to Denmark. Even in the past year, DO Navarra wines performed very well in Denmark, with sales totaling 171,658 liter, most of it rosé. This upward trend is expected to continue.
Navarran winemakers view many opportunities in Denmark, where consumers especially like wines that are easy to drink, young, and modern. The goal is to continue to increase the prestige of their wines and expand their footprint in that country.
