Hispania Brasserie Wins Prestigious Delta d’Or Award in Belgium

The prestigious Belgian restaurant guide, Delta, has officially crowned a winner for its 2019 edition. But the best restaurant in

the Brussels-Capital region doesn’t serve Belgian food, Italian dishes, or French fare. The winner of the Delta d’Or prize is Hispania Brasserie.

Located in the Sablon neighborhood, this Spanish restaurant is the Belgian outpost of the original locale, which opened in London three years ago. It opened its doors there back in 2013, and after a very successful run, the team headed to Brussels. It opened in 2016 with the ambitious goal of being “the reference for Spanish gastronomy in Belgium and Benelux,” according to brusseltimes.com.

Hispania Brasserie is run by Michelin-star chef Marcos Morán and chef Adrián Mancheno. Menu highlights include Ibérico charcuterie, octopus with paprika and potato puree, Spanish “broken eggs” with ham and truffle, Asturian bean stew, seafood fideua, Segovian milk-fed suckling pig, and Ibérico pork 5J meatballs. The wine list is equally impressive, and features cava, whites, red, rosés, and sweet wines from DO Rioja, DO Valencia, DO Rias Baixas, DO Ribera del Duero, and other top wine regions.

Hispania is no stranger to awards. In 2014, it received the Foods of Spain accolade from the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy.
